President’s
Message Spring is in the air, a season which always symbolizes change for me. As change happens, I know new and exciting opportunities are developing, as well as continued growth and prosperity for our chapter. The board has a strong focus and direction for continued success in 2008. As you have certainly noticed the last few months, change is happening within our chapter in a big way. From the look and layout of our meetings, to the expansion of our Board, membership growth, sponsor support, and of course the upcoming Sin City Financial Symposium. I am personally honored to be chapter President and

News Briefs PR Media Contacts Project We are pursuing our mission to provide basic financial skills to the public by seeking to partner with local media. As a chapter member benefit, we are linking with local media, establishing ourselves as the resident experts on financial issues. You know, of course, that when hot stories break, the news media seek out experts who can help the public understand what the news means to them. When it comes to financial news, we want those talking heads to be FPA members. We want to promote the concept of “I am FPA™,” that the FPA members are the go-to-guys for the media and the public when either needs information on how to navigate through the confusing and sometimes treacherous financial environment in which we all find ourselves today. We are developing a list of members who would be willing to respond to local media on breaking financial issues. The list will identify the FPA members who can provide consumer information on specific content fields, never pitching a particular product, but rather speaking from the “I am FPA™” perspective. Media contact list members would of course need to commit to responding quickly, be comfortable with speaking extemporaneously (that means having a microphone shoved in your face), and be able to communicate difficult concepts in words of one syllable. We will be asking for volunteers shortly for both northern and southern Nevada. Share your thoughts on this with us now by contacting us at PR@FPANV.org. Foundation for Financial Planning Awards
Nine New Grants The Foundation for Financial Planning, a non-profit charitable organization, has awarded nine new grants totaling $695,694 to various non-profit groups across the nation. The mission of the Foundation is to help people take control of their financial lives by connecting the financial planning community with people in need. Click here for complete article.
