EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION FOR THE |

The dog days of summer are definitely upon us! We hope you are able to enjoy your summer and get out of the heat any chance you can. As we all know, volunteers are the key to our association’s success. We have witnessed tremendous progress of our group over that last several months. Membership is growing, through Public Relations we are getting the FPA name and objectives to more resources, Pro Bono continues to expand and add new dimensions and programs for the upcoming year are sure to be excellent. However, we are asking for your help. Helping at the Committee level for any of our Chair positions would be a great start for you to become involved. So we ask, what is your passion? Are you a people person and would like to help grow our membership? Do you see yourself in a government relations role, keeping the Association and the general public apprised on changes and developments? Can you reach out and help put together a calendar of programs that will educate and entertain? Can you play a role in keeping members in communication across the entire state? Consider making a small commitment and let us know how you could see yourself helping out. We appreciate everyone’s involvement. As a reminder, the Early Bird deadline for the upcoming Sin City Symposium is August 22nd! Visit the website for more details on all of the planned speakers and events. The first annual Sin City Financial Symposium will be held on September 19, 2008 at the Flamingo Hotel and Resort on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip. Our Pro-Bono program is continuing to expand. Look for the upcoming details on how we can all participate in the Junior Achievement Program. This promises to be a fun and educational event. For those attended the meeting with Alan Dishkin from Junior Achievement talk about financial literacy for our students back in April, you will recall such a powerful message and how easy it is to join in the fun. More to come. Remember that we do not have a meeting in the month
of August. Get out and enjoy the
summer!
The first annual Sin City Financial Symposium is coming up on September 19. We have an all star line-up of speakers you won’t want to miss. Save $50 by signing up by the Early-bird deadline of August 22 (that’s next week!). We are putting together our programs committee to plan our programs for next year. We would love to have all members participate on our committee so we are sure to have just the right programs to meet your professional needs. Please let us know what it would take to get you to
come to each and every program in 2009.
Our first round of programs in the Financial Planning Basics series at Child Focus was a huge success. We are now gearing up for our partnership with Junior Achievement ®. We will be having an orientation training session on September 8 for those of you who wish to volunteer to be part of something big with JA. Watch your email for a forthcoming announcement or logon to sign up. For more information about Junior Achievement, visit their website and view the video. This year we are starting our pilot program at Valuing Art For Tax Purposes A gift or bequest of a valuable piece of art or other collectible can generate a significant tax deduction and, very often, draw the attention of the IRS.
