The Planner News Briefs

April 2009

Greetings: Victoria,
Welcome to this edition of Financial Planning Association of Southern Nevada’s monthly news brief.  In it you will find useful information about our chapter and its programs promoting the financial planning profession.

Membership Chair
Eleesa Aimaq

Please remember that our new dues program prepays ALL of our regular longer quarterly meetings including catered breakfast and lunch.

Our ’Tween meetings come with snacks.  We have changed to the new format to relieve your commuting time and especially to deepen the quality of our speakers.

Our first quarterly meeting was a big success with two speakers addressing the economy and one with some great ideas on face to face marketing. Our change of location is convenient, roomier, more comfortable and conducive to networking. We have made a lot of changes in hope of improving and pleasing our members.  Check us out!

Director of the Mentor Program at Clark Magnet School of Finance, Sonja Brouwers, along with three of the students will attend our coming meeting and give us a brief view of their mentor program. This is an easy, fun and low key way to have a big impact on the next generation.  And very little time is involved.

Upcoming Programs
Judy Moore

On April 23, members from Reno and Northern Nevada are meeting at the Brew House along with President-Elect Jocelyn Holzwarth for a social gathering and to help map the future of the chapter in the northern part of the state.

On April 29 we will have our regular quarterly meeting in Las Vegas at UNLV. The theme of this program is retirement and estate planning issues in the face of recession. Our speakers will include Michael Levy, Esq., renowned retirement planning consultant and Jeff Boyce, Esq., from the firm of Boyce, Gianni, &Clark. In addition to our two experts, we will have a case study in which all attendees will participate along with other experts on a panel to round out the discussion. This program is underwritten by United Business Brokers.

We are currently planning a ’Tween Meeting on end-of-life planning to be held at a local mortuary. There are some interesting ramifications for financial and estate planning. Watch our website for additional information.
