Dear Fellow Planners: We’ve successfully passed the “Ides of March” without a major impact in the financial markets; now we will see what arises on the national front with healthcare reform! For our pro-bono program, we held our third and final educational session on Insurance for our “Fiscally Fit” financial series at the Barbara Greenspun Women’s Center. This completed our first 3 sessions of our community outreach education program for the year. We had intrepid attendees despite inclement weather (rain and snow!) during each event. In fact, the series was such a success, that we plan to hold the sessions on the west side of the Valley later in the Spring. Stay tuned for more details and to volunteer. We will also be
holding our first “Tween event on Tuesday, March 30th from 4:00 – 6:00

proceedings as well as some common divorce financial mistakes. It will be held at the Winchell’s

We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, where you can learn, socialize and network; while working on our client’s futures and our own businesses. See you at the next program! March

Pro-Bono-Financial Literacy
Update Our Pro Bono series "Fically Fit" has been so successful that we are presenting it again on the West-side by popular acclaim. Again St. Rose Hospital and the Barbara Greenspun Women's Center will sponsor us. We have agreed on the first Thursday of June, July and August. The first section has been renamed "Introduction to Financial Planning" to make the subject clearer Very sincere thanks to those who gave of their time in presenting. Thank you to Mark Robertson, Daniel Hughes, Linda Bertuzzi, Deborah Fackett and Jacqueline Thornhill. Thanks also to Jocelyn Holtzwarth our President who showed up every time. And thanks also to Rusty Hammond who was prepared but had a family emergency. St. Rose Hospital and the Barbara Greenspun Women's Center have been more than gracious in their help. They not only supplied the room and staff but handouts and equipment as well. Having said that, I would like to call for volunteer presenters for the next round. All you have to do is show up and follow the outline: June 3rd, July 1st, August 5th are the dates. To volunteer, please call Eleesa Aimaq - 702-275-1940 or Dennis Filangeri. – 702-473-1153 Internship Opportunity An important component of the Academy of Finance is the Summer Internship program for highly qualified students between their junior and senior years of high school. These internships allow our students the opportunity to experience first-hand the real business world and to utilize the skills they have acquired in their Academy classes. Company benefits for internship providers include: available source of temporary employees during critical period; opportunity to selected from students who are already familiar with industry practices through school curriculum; opportunity to orient students to corporate culture, nurture the relationship through college, and hire them work-ready; opportunity for local publicity and positive public relations; contribution to public school education and to the creation of a motivated, educated work force all for a commitment of a minimum of 6 weeks during the summer at a pay rate of at least minimum wage! I am asking now for your assistance in helping me provide internship positions for my students who are eligible this summer. If you- or any of your colleagues or associates- have the need for well-skilled, motivated employees for the summer, please let me know. Thank you for your
consideration. News Briefs Congratulations to Kevin Cusak and Mark Robertson upon their fifth anniversary as members of the Financial Planning Association.
